After going through the intense popularity of Sacred Games as a series on Netflix, I found out that I can watch it in Ireland as well. So I started playing the series, and lo' and behold, it was directed by Anurag Kashyap AND Vikramaditya Motawane, two very creative directors and writers. Okay, so I was hooked, and the series was immensely pleasing to watch, being so well crafted. After it ended on a cliffhanger, I found myself turning to the book.
The book itself follows the series by large (it is actually the other way around, but I have a habit of walking into things backwards) and this shows in the characters. However, the series has taken a large amount of liberty in changing the characters as well as altering the core elements of the story while keeping the overall arch the same. I want to say that the series did it better, but it could not have done so if it was not for the book. And so I am glad that I have read the book, while was enjoyable, and also made me realise how much I relished watching the series. Eagerly awaiting season 2.
