An ambitious premise as the book summarises the different of 'work' over the last thousand years. The earlier era seems a bit vague as to how we know about these things, but the book provides ample references (I didn't check them though). The later years cover more familiar things. I was excited to see how all these things connect to the modern practices. But alas the book stops just short of modern day work. A lost opportunity. The book's value and novelty is merely as a historical informatica.,
