A horror story? By Olga Tokarczuk?! Yes please! After 'Drive your Plow over the Bones of the Dead', I was excited to see this. Half way through the book, after several passing references to ghosts, spirits, and in general uncomfortable circumstances but no actual horror, it struck me that the horror was more psychological. All the men were afraid of the women! Its not an accurate description of the book, but its a keen, wise, and clever take on storytelling that hides the real realisations until the very end, but also asks the reader to reflect on their own as characters become more familiar and exposed.,
