  • review: A strangely intense novel about what I would also have called dystopian, but the author states its not dystopian if its already happening somewhere. The book is set in Ireland amidst a future where a far-right government has taken over and we have a police agency who can simply disappear people. Its authoritarian fascism in a place where its really difficult to imagine it. I wanted to know about how something like this happened. But the book doesn't really give any glimpses in to the history. There's also a surprising aspect where we only really see people who are against the power. The writing is good, it really creates a sense of urgency and stress that resonates with the happenings in each page and chapter. Interesting read, but didn't really stick with me in the end.,
